Adrian Evans, a Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) in the Navy Medical Service Corps, graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2001) and earned his Master in Social Work from Jackson State University (2005). Before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 2008, he worked as an alcohol and drug counselor for COPAC Inc., a medical social worker for Fresenius Dialysis Centers, and the Assistant Director of Alternative Services for Parkwood Behavioral Health.
Through the Navy’s Health Sciences Collegiate Program, Adrian obtained his national license and was commissioned as a Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) in 2010. Over his 15+ years of active-duty service as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), he has provided mental health care in high-pressure environments and worked extensively in behavioral health counseling, discharge planning, case management, and crisis intervention. His previous roles include serving as a behavioral health counselor in both clinical and hospital settings, a discharge planner for cardiac, postpartum, and combat casualty care, an HIV+ case manager, the Maternal-Child Division Officer at Naval Medical Center San Diego, the Department Head of Case Management, Discharge Planning, and Population Health at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, and the Psychological Health Team Lead for embedded LCSWs with Coastal Riverine Group 2 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Adrian’s therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic principles with the core techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), emphasizing the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. He helps clients identify and reframe maladaptive thought patterns, develop emotional regulation skills, and implement behavioral strategies that promote lasting change. His approach is structured and solution-focused, empowering clients to build self-awareness, resilience, and effective coping mechanisms for long-term mental well-being.
He is a Board-Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (BCD) and a 15-year member of the NASW. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Adrian and his wife of 21 years have four children and are currently in the process of adopting their three foster sons.
